Paladin use a cloud-based platform to provide channel partners with Connected Home Value Added Services. Their flexible product and service bundles, product design by Steven Burgess, deliver home monitoring and security, home automation and energy management services. The Home Security Pack shown above gives the user control of their home and provides round-the-clock access to information gathered from a
range of devices. This provides home security, family monitoring, fire and flood detection and home automation all wrapped up into one. The user can view and respond to alerts from the home as they happen, no matter where they are, with remote access via a range of apps. It is also possible to customise the service to create a more bespoke system, for example, one which will alert you when the kids get home.

Key product design specifications include a unique family form that would differentiate the brand from existing hub competitors, and create unity between the product range. Steven Burgess achieved this with a striking polished aluminium grill upon a white circular base. The product design process was undertaken whilst working with London based agency, Centreline, and it incorporated a stand for the main hub to elevate it up from a surface, allowing it stand elegantly in a room whilst occupying minimal surface footprint. The other products in the range developed on from this using the same forms, although it was unnecessary for the flood detector to adopt a full circular form. In this case, a regular vertical design was utilised and the family form was maintained by incorporating a fraction of the circular face design and aluminium grill. The entire pack would be sold together along with insurance plans, to try and reduce the number of insurance claims actually made by the consumer. This would benefit all parties, as well as the being beneficial to the environment.
